Job Summary

First Intuition (FI) operates nationally as a network of providers. The role of MIS Manager forms part of the Central Apprenticeships Compliance Team. The team are responsible for quality checking ESFA audit evidence, data entry, ILR returns and Apprenticeship Service management, on behalf of all centres belonging to the FI Network.

You'll play a crucial role in efficiently managing and developing the MIS team to ensure that financial and contractual obligations are met across all funding, data, and ILR functions.

This role reports into the Head of Data and Compliance.  The role is responsible for 3 direct reports.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor a team of MIS professionals, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement
  • Oversee ILR uploads and Apprenticeship Service (AS) management for all centres in the FI Network
  • Ensure data integrity and ESFA compliance by monitoring FRM, PDSAT and any other relevant reports
  • Oversee financial reconciliation of apprenticeship data on behalf of all centres in the FI Network
  • Oversee and advise on the audit of complex learner changes, including changes to price and employer
  • Manage queries submitted to the Helpdesk on funding, ILR, financial and AS complexities
  • Manage the continual improvement of MIS services provided to the FI Network, reviewing existing services and proposing new or additional service offerings
  • Project work, as dictated by the Head of Data and Compliance
  • Supporting additional work as reasonably required by management from time to time.  This list is not exhaustive.

Requirements

Essential:

  • Experience of leadership in a role overseeing Management Information Systems in a Further Education setting
  • Ability to manage a team to work efficiently and effectively to be able to meet deadlines, either external or internal.
  • A sound working knowledge of ESFA Funding and associated audit requirements, particularly relating to Apprenticeships
  • A good understanding of apprenticeship standards and Apprenticeship reforms
  • Strong computer/Excel skills
  • Experience of MIS Systems used for ILR Data returns, particularly PICs
  • Experience of the Apprenticeship Service system and processes
  • Effective communicator with excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Confident and professional in dealing with clients and colleagues.
  • Strong organisational, problem solving and time management skills.

Desirable:

  • Able to interpret and present complex information in a manner suitable for audiences with a variety of specialist and non-specialist skills.
  • A strong focus on customer service which includes the anticipation of customers’ needs and meeting these needs proactively.
  • Evidence of forward-thinking approach to solving problems.
  • Experience of the accountancy and finance sector.
